What is the significance of Republic Day and why do we celebrate it?-
On 26 January 1930, after the Congress demanded complete Swaraj, the Swaraj Party demanded the Constituent Assembly in 1934, which was strongly supported in the Congress session of December 1936.
During the Lucknow Congress session in December 1936, the meaning and importance of the Constituent Assembly was explained and in 1937 and 1938 the demand of the Constituent Assembly was repeated. Due to which the decision to make the constitution was made and the constitution assembly was completed according to three phases - Cabinet Mission Plan, Department Plan of 3 June 1947 and reorganization of the princely states.
Elections were held indirectly from 1946 with the objective of constituting the Constituent Assembly according to the Cabinet Mission Plan.
On December 11, 1947, Dr. Rajendra Prasad was unanimously elected as the permanent chairman of the Constituent Assembly.
It took 2 years, 11 months, 18 days for the Constituent Assembly to complete its curry from 9, December 1946 to 26 November 1949 in making this complete constitution.
Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar is considered the father of the Indian Constitution. He was also the chairman of the drafting committee.
The Constituent Assembly consisted of prominent Indian people, excluding Mahatma Gandhi and Jinnah.
Women were also represented in the assembly. Mrs. Hansa Mehta, Mrs. Renuka Rai, Mrs. Sarojini Naidu and Durgabai Deshmukh were the principal members of the Constituent Assembly.
